First off, if anyone cares-- which I doubt anyone does, I haven't been on FT for a minute so sorry for any posts that seem dated or old news, but I digress.

I troll the FT forums and read threads about REVOLUTION, FREEDOM, and SMALL GOVERNMENT, yet it amazes me how many people on this site believe in Bush Doctrine style foreign policy, fragmented freedom (economic and constitutional freedom mostly, but ignore the 9th and 10th amendments), and their opinion of government and its attempt to legislate morality.YouTube Ron Paul's CPAC speech. Listen to how he defines Revolution, Freedom, and small government. Same with Reagan's speeches. Meditate on those.

Does being a Republican mean we have to be a hard nose when it comes to foreign policy? Does being a Republican mean allowing the government to ban people from doing things in the name of "protecting citizens from themselves"? Does being a Republican mean tossing out the constitution in the name of national security?

It is refreshing to hear these two men speak profound truths. However, it's truly sad that most people pick and choose what their conservatism is.

Maybe I am an overreacting idealist. =P
