“In spirituality there is no time.” -Rav Ashlag
The power of immortality is the ability to transcend time, high above the limitations of this world. On Shavuot, we receive this energy. Kabbalist Rav Shimon taught that whoever stays awake all night during this holiday, and performs the connections properly as the kabbalists do, shall complete the coming year.
The Exodus from Egypt and the holiday itself is not the essence of Shavuot, but rather, it is after we have counted the Omer, corrected the 49 Gates of Impurity, and received the 49 Gates of Purity, we then reach the 50th Gate – the day of Shavuot.
It was on this day, when the Israelites reached the 50th Gate, that all of their imperfections disappeared. Those who were deaf could now hear, and those who were blind could now see. Was it simply a miracle? No! They were connected to an energy that was beyond time. Everything lies in the seed. Those who are deaf can produce children who can hear. And those who have lost a limb, Heaven forbid, can have children with both limbs. It is only due to the limitation of time that we are unable to see ahead – a few years or even a few lifetimes – where again these people will see, hear, walk, or speak.
