and I also have no problem being led by a woman either in things that don't pertain to the Church....for example I'd have no problem with a woman being my boss in a job setting

This is what gives rise to cults, like the JW's and LDS. The idea that God is still revealing doctrinal things to mankind outside of his Scripture. Do I believe the Holy Ghost speaks to us, yes He does, He speaks to us in that still voice that orders our steps--He is not however revealing any new information about the nature and will of God to the Body of Christ in any doctrinal sense. It has already all been said in his Holy Scriptures.

Anything we learn from now on in the doctrinal sense, will come when He is here personally ruling the world.

This idea that God is not silent now on matters of doctrine, is what gives rise to the Jehovah's Witnesses' Bible and Tract Society, which they hold up as a continuation of Scripture.

Or the LDS's Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price.

One of the main functions of a church is to provide instruction to the disciples. If we hold fast to orthodoxy, it makes it more difficult for error to creep into the church.

Are there lukewarm churches, of course there are, Scripture tells us to expect them. This does not mean you shun all churches, because just as Scripture points out the bad churches, it lifts up the good ones.

To follow this train of thought, Stephen should shun any church with female leadership as the church at Thyatira was rebuked for having a false prophetess.

@ Joseph,

A Woman cannot have the leadership authority of Christ because Christ gives that authority to men only in Scripture. Again it doesn't matter whether YOU have a problem with listening to a woman or not. What does God teach in His Holy Word? Women are instructed to instruct women in the way they should conduct themselves.

Stephen, just one point I'd like to throw in on something you said about being led by women. I believe Mark asked you how you could justify that in light of the Biblical demands on the subject.

Your answer was in part to say that women have contributed greatly throughout history (true) and that because of that you felt totally comfortable with it.

I just left a church about a year ago after I discovered to my shock and dismay that they were endorsing all kinds of new age teachings. When I confronted them about it their stock answer was "that these things have a long tradition in Christian HISTORY!"

Very similar answer to yours. And I kept telling them - futile as it was - that Christian HISTORY and Biblical teachings are not always (or even usually) in total agreement!

Christian history is NOT the Word of God. So I would like to hear you give a Biblical justification for that, instead of a historical one.

Hassan I never said anything about a leadership role....but that doesn't mean that because they cannot become priests or deacons that they cannot teach regarding Christ and His Church

Back into the fray I go.
Just got caught up so bear with me for appropriate responses.
I will say this now however, I will NOT stay up as late as I did last night...I'm draggin my butt around and need to get an early start tomorrow...so I hope y'all will be okay with that and have some questins, situations and understanding answered before I shut down for the night.

@Politicalathiest- You sir...are a bright light...you are as a babe in the Lord and I absolutely love your honesty, fortrightness and most importantly of all, your desire to learn the truth. Keep on reading His word...as you do, you become washed in His truth, a cleaning process that makes your spiritual gown whiter and whiter. To illustrate this, during the last supper when the Lord was washing the disciples feet, (Judas was not present for this), Peter asked the Lord what He was doing and said it should be he who washes the feet of the Lord and not the other way around.
The Lords response to him was that they had been with Him for 3 1/2 years and were almost clean, and that only their feet were left to be washed clean. So keep on reading and please...ask questions. There is much people don't understand about His word and others who have been blessed to recieve deeper understanding; ask the Lord to guide you and to open up His word to you according to His will..and He will do it! :) Nice to have you on board here my friend.

@Hassan- I still don't understand why you think I'm speaking another language when it pertains to the Lord and my relationship to Him. That's really too bad actually...I thought last evening we had a better understanding of one another.

@Tom Davis- You say, "It doesn't seem right to you." What doesn't seem right Tom? Does the Lord not talk to you? Not everyone has the same purpose in life in regards to our walk with the Lord. I'm sure you're familiar with the different parts of the body of Christ that makes up His Church...we all have a role to play IF we obey Him and IF we listen to Him when He speaks to us.
So on that note...do you not believe that the Lord is speaking to believers all over the world today, in light of the end times we are in, and using them to prophetically speak the words He wants His church to hear?
I would suggest you actually read some of the writings the Lord has given Elinor and see for yourself. If you don't get it, it may be that you're not spiritually mature or aware enough to comprehend it. Again, I would go to the Lord Himself and ask Him to open it up to you if it is His will.
But don't outright reject what you don't understand....ask the Lord. Everything written in the Voice website is solidly grounded in His word. :) Check it out. :)

@Jonathan- point of correction. I didn't say 'christian history', but throughout History in completeness. The Lord used many people throughout History for His purposes...we see a great many of these events which make up the prophetic truth of His word that are included in the word of God.
He used Sarah, Rebekkah, Rachael, Ruth, Esther, the Shulamite, Elizabeth, Mary and so on. They are given extraordinary roles to fulfill and are representitive prophetically, of the Bride and her role in these end times.

I can't recall who..but someone mentioned New Age creeping into christianity. I too say 'beware' of this...it must be rejected, but nothing I've said or believe has anything to do with New Age. I reject that kind of crap outright and have zero tolerance for it.

@Mark- I dont' know how much or how little of His Word you actually understand, so I hope I'm speaking in terms I assume you should understand if your church is doing it's job correctly.
The 'tribal nations of Israel' are just that...ancient Israels 12 tribes which rejected the Lord not once, but twice, and were scattered throughout the nations of the world after 70AD.
Gentile nations are those that never had the Lord as head of their countries, worshipped pagan gods with eastern based cultic religions that controlled their nations under various leaders.

The reason for the 2 different applications of 'gentile nations' is to separate the 2 periods of our time. Before Christ and after, where the House of Israel went from a physical natural nation, to a spiritual nation that also was seen in the natural. The gentile nations of the world that surrounded ancient Israel make up the first part where they 'start below and go up' to the center of the cross, make their decision about whether they believe the Lord our God or not. IF they reject Him, they return to the lower position meaning they will have no part in the Kingdom of God or the House of Israel. The 2nd part where they start at the higher part, go to the center of the cross, then make their decision, sees them going down.
Prior to Jesus' arrival, the genitle nations of the world either believed upon the Lord or they didn't. most didn't. After His arrival and ascention into Heaven, the gospel of Jesus was being spread out to all the world...most of ancient Europe came under control of the Roman Empire and upon it's demise, replaced by the catholic church, which in essence, kept the old ancient Roman empire in tact. The people would either believe upon the name of the Lord or they would not.

Spiritual Israel, is the counterpart to natural Israel. Only 2 nations on the planet ever went into Covenant with the Lord, they being ancient Israel and America (Canada/USA) by the fact that both American nations declare God to have supremacy in the land. The Declaration of Independance is quite clear that the US was founded by His grace and the laws of this land were based on His word. The Dominion of Canada, actually bears in the preamble of the consitution the words that state, "For God shall have supremacy in the land." Canada's laws, like their brothers in the US, were also based Gods Law...thusly, America entered into Covenant with Him.

Those who believe in Him, will go up to the center of the cross, make their decision and either continue the rest of the way up to the Kingdom of God, or will go down.

Truely, the Cross is the focal point of where each and every individual makes a free will choice as to what they believe and where they will end up. Which is why this was placed on the main page of the Kingfisher website.

Hope that helps out a bit for ya. It's a lot tougher explaining this on venue's like this as opposed to being one on one, face to face where it may be better illustrated.

and they've omitted 'why' Paul specifically mentions 'women' who bear children. Now ask yourself...who prophetically, births the spiritual man child of Revelation?
They really really need to take it up with the Lord, but they won't...the legalism seems to be ruling their thinking and not the Holy Spirit.

I've only got one answer for that, Stephen - the Bible is inspired by God but it was written by the hand of Man. The ONLY book of the Bible that says it cannot be changed is the Book of Revelation. Who's to say that some things weren't thrown in by the human writers? This might explain the long list of conflicts that occur in the scripture. Whatever the cause, this conversation seems to be a legal argument for some brand of hard-line faith like Pentecostal or Foursquare, which I'm sorry, I don't agree with. Many of the passages quoted here are ones I've heard interpreted much differently in church (by a male pastor).
