Mary Ann you make some good points. We all have to be so careful about choosing who to listen to and who to believe. For me, Popular Mechanics has been around for a hundred years. And they've never been political.
To think they have some political ax to grind or as has been contradictorily suggested here by some that first they're in bed with the Left, and later that they're somehow in bed with George Bush and the military! I mean just read through what's been said here and the proponents of government-ordered 9/11 are contradicting themselves!
Anyway, PM also has a name and a reputation. And if they get engineering facts wrong then they would be totally discredited for what they are supposed to be experts in.
You might say, well the New York Times has a name and reputation too - but they get everything wrong. Yes, that's true! But their name and reputation is that they are on the far left. And they do very little to ever discredit that impression.
The people who are claiming they have some special inside knowledge - although they also claim to be total outsiders - are making a name for themselves by making these claims about 9/11. In other words, they are personally profiting off of this Lie.
Now Dale has accused me of somehow saying things I don't believe because he asserts that I am personally profiting from it. Well, if the charge is good enough for me - why isn't it good enough for the people Dale is listening to?
Anyway, I usually find that the side that has the most contradictions is usually wrong. And in this case - with I believe Bret saying Popular Mechanics was a left-wing outfit and somebody else saying that PM was somehow in bed with the "internationalists" (who I presume are the same ones who control everything)... then we have the spectacle of a left-wing publication supporting ideas that helped a right-wing president. So I don't know... the story on that side's just not gelling.

William Randolph Hearst (April 29, 1863 – August 14, 1951) was an American
newspaper magnate and leading newspaper publisher.[1] Hearst entered the
publishing business in 1887, after taking control of The San Francisco
Examiner from his father. Moving to New York City, he acquired The New York
Journal and engaged in a bitter circulation war with Joseph Pulitzer's New
York World which led to the creation of yellow journalism—sensationalized
stories of dubious veracity. Acquiring more newspapers, Hearst created a
chain that numbered nearly 30 papers in major American cities at its peak.
He later expanded to magazines, creating the largest newspaper and magazine
business in the world.
He was twice elected as a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives,
but ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of New York City in 1905 and 1909, for
Governor of New York in 1906, and for Lieutenant Governor of New York in 1910.
Nonetheless, through his newspapers and magazines, he exercised enormous
political influence, and is sometimes credited with pushing public opinion
in the United States into a war with Spain in 1898.
Yellow journalism or the yellow press is a type of journalism that presents little or no legitimate well-researched news and instead uses eye-catching headlines to sell more newspapers. Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism. By extension "Yellow Journalism" is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion.
Frank Luther Mott (1941) defines yellow journalism in terms of five characteristics:[1]
In part to aid in his political ambitions, Hearst opened newspapers in some other cities, among them Chicago, Los Angeles and Boston. The creation of his Chicago paper was requested by the Democratic National Committee and Hearst used this as an excuse for Phoebe Hearst to transfer him the necessary start-up funds. By the mid-1920s he had a nation-wide string of 28 newspapers, among them the Los Angeles Examiner, the Boston American, the Atlanta Georgian, the Chicago Examiner, the Detroit Times, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Washington Times, the Washington Herald, and his flagship the San Francisco Examiner.

Mary, share your thoughts with Jonathan on Obama's birth certificate. I am interested to see if he is still so cordial with you or if he starts calling you names. By the way, your position on his birth puts you more in line with Alex Jones and us "Truthers" ,"Terrorists", "Nutjobs", "Whackos","America haters" and "Useful Idiots" than with "Deniers" like Jonathan. Just sayin'!
It doesn't matter WHERE Obummer was born--he is ineligible to be president because his father was NOT a U.S. Citizen.
Jonathan, I knew they were going to rip you a new one over Popular Mechanics (PM). Even though Hearst used his newspapers and magazines to shape public opinion, I dare say he was a much more honorable man than anyone in the media left standing today. However, as to PM, though owned by liberals, editorial content is controlled by the Editor-in-Chief. This is the same for every newspaper and magazine owned by a large conglomerate. Do you suppose this is why my Grandmother always told me to believe only half of what I see? :)
On the other side of this argument, 911 Truthers are soaking up every theory postulated by less than credible sources. Yes, there may be portions of the story that we will never know. This does not rise to the level of President Bush ordering or sanctioning the attack.
You want to know my personal opinion on 911? I believe the plan was carried out by Muslims, but they were aided and abetted by China, Russia, North Korea, or Venezuela. Perhaps even more than one of these communist countries supplied knowledge and education.
Do truthers not realize that they are playing into the cold cruel hands of the liberals they claim to hate? I loved the quotes about "yellow journalism" as I think this is exactly what has happened with truther theory (it is a THEORY, not a fact). Yet, it was quoted to show us "deniers" that truthers are correct. Just goes to show that two people looking at the same evidence can come away with two separate stories of what happened. It happens in law enforcement all the time. Two people witnessing the same accident will have two different stories of what happened. This is common knowledge in the legal industry, and something used by attorneys on both sides in cases of negligence or fault.

I didn't say anything of the sort. I've been remarkably consistent with what I've said, and if you'd been reading me instead of reading things into me, then you wouldn't make such a claim.

Wow...so it's OK for you to say something that doesn't agree with the official 9-11 com. report, but when someone else says like me says they have issues with it....it's a "conspiracy theory". Truth is, in this instance we are both conspiracy theorists, if that's truly what you beleive.
Bret, The difference between us is that I KNEW AND ADMITTED my thoughts were pure speculation, mere theory, and personal opinion.

Scott, I presume you meant to say that Jonathan and I will go to our death believing that the government could NOT do such things. This is not true, we just do not believe the "sky is falling" conspiracy theories that, unfortunately, surround the tragedy of 9-11-2001. It is rude of you to assume that we did not fully read your posts just because we are not convinced, as you are, that the 9-11 truther theories are fact.
Scott Hansen said:
I will say this is why I ended it with "no hard feelings God bless" because folks like Mary and Jonathan will go to there death beds believing that the government could [NOT?] do such things. No one will convince them otherwise (I wasn't trying to by the way). Jonathan I don't think you actually read or care what I posted. Because you only comment on keywords that were in my post not on what it said. I asked you to "youtube" as I also posted "burning buildings" the experts you posted did they contruibute to the investigation? or actually examain the site? I can't have an opinion unless Im an expert?
Dale a lot of copying & pasting about the Hearst Corporation BUT NOT ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE OF YELLOW JOURNALISM PRACTICED BY POPULAR MECHANICS!! So come on! If you can't find a single example of that then none of the rest of what you said really matters.
Scott, you said I will go to my death bed believing that "government" could do no such thing. That's not true! Of course I believe government could do such a thing! That's why I'm a conservative. Because I believe in the sinfulness of man and the consequent possibility of corruption of government officials. I just don't believe THIS government did THAT! I don't believe the Bush administration ordered 9/11. You're right. I will go to my death bed believing that.
But that doesn't mean I'm closed to the possibility that some future government might do something like that. But we have just not yet seen that. We might at some point. But not yet.
Mary Ann said that it was her PERSONAL OPINION that the Muslims were aided and abetted by the communists. She didn't say she had absolute facts that could prove it. That's why it's not a conspiracy theory! She's not claiming for a fact that it's true - using easily refutable "evidence". And I believe she's probably saying that she personally believes it is probably true but she realizes that she's basing that belief on a feeling - not on substantiated facts! And in fact, it's a feeling that I don't find unreasonable. It's a feeling based in historical precedent. I think it's a possibility as well. But I don't claim to have PROOF. And if someone came along and showed good reasons why it's not true I'd be open to that.
And yeah - like it or not I believe that the "theory" that the George Bush government ordered 9/11 is WACKO! Sorry...if that offends you. But don't I have the right to my own personal opinion? And don't I have the right to express it???

"Deleted Member" posted this moments ago but now it is gone and so is he. Not sure why. The video is quite interesting however so I am posting it again.

Dale, George Bush was president when this happened. George Bush would have had to have ordered it. George Bush, whether you agree with him on everything or not - and I don't, but he's a brother in Christ. You are siding with all those and you're buying their lie which was designed to promote the belief that Christians are every bit as bad as anybody else, in fact they're worse. They are promoting the belief that Christianity is not only no better than any other religion, it is in fact quite a bit worse. And here's proof. A Christian president was willing to murder up to 3,000 of his own citizens in furtherance of some personal agenda. I just don't understand how or why you would put yourself on this end of that argument. I think maybe you guys really don't understand where this lie came from or why it was promoted. But I'm really sorry to have to say this - you have become the "useful idiots" of the other side.
So I just found this video on youtube that documents and factually proves that an Italian woman was recently abducted by aliens AND impregnated by them.
Just curious if you believe this. And if not what is your basis for not believing it?
