We are about to enter a mid-term election year, and I think it is important we fully understand what we want from our Government. Many of our politicians openly buy into the idea of redistribution of wealth; others oppose this idea. Likely many Americans believe in this model and others oppose it. Some of us are undecided. This is the quintessential point of having elections, this is the decision we need to make. It’s not about health care, or jobs, or national security, or even education. In the end this election, an every election until we get past this debate between left and right, between liberal and conservative, is about what you think the role of government should be; and I have devised a very simple way of illustrating the difference.
The Average or Mean household income in the U.S. is $62556.00 that is per living space vacant or occupied. The average persons per household, per living space, are 2.59. What that means is that if we were to take all the money that is earned by all people in the U.S. and threw it in a big pile; then we gave each and every man woman and child an equal share; we would each get $24152.90. This is exactly the ultimate final end point of the idea of redistribution of wealth. Now depending on your current situation that may be an increase or a decrease, remember you get that for every one in your house including your youngest baby, and your oldest relative so long as they live in your house.
The total spending of the Federal Government in 2009 was 6456 billion dollars. How much is that? Well if we paid that bill in total, we would each pay $21232.65 per capita. That is to say that each and every man, woman and child in your house would pay $21232.65 to pay for our federal government.
