What a shame supposedly "pure" scientific bodies appear to ignore their data to qualify for grants and/or otherwise pleasing political and commercial bodies. As such they are thus hopelessly biased and their data must be viewed as such.
Beware of chicken little scientist claiming the sky is falling, they may have an agenda other than knowledge. Hopefully our govt will push back on compromising what little is left of our our national sovereignty.

This reminds me of an exchange I had recently with someone who insisted that "science" has no agenda other than advancing knowledge for the betterment of mankind. I pointed out that the funding of science research is highly political, and in many cases is not benevolent, but manipulative.
The 'climate change" hysteria is a prime example of this. For one to accept the drivel of man made climate change, one has to be purposefully ignorant, religiously blind, or have a totalitarian agenda.

Science used to be something you could do in your attic. With all the advances that have been made it now takes BIG bucks. Wherever you have BIG bucks involved you have a desire for those bucks, and for the most part government is the only one with bucks big enough. Where there is government bucks there is coruption. Simple as that. Science researches what government wants them to so they can get the grants. You can't help but lean towards the desired results because you have to reapply next year for another grant, and the competition is pretty stiff.
Diana, Great Point! If we can not even predict the weather..... what makes us think we will be better at predicting it in 200 years from now or more!!
I have one friend who likes to speak of the sun turning into a "Red Giant" in a few million years that would vaporising Venus Mars and Earth. Now thats some Global Warming !!
That will inevitably happen. The sun is not an infinite source of energy. All stars die sooner or later. LOL I don't think we will see it, but at some time it will happen.
Even if they were 100% correct about the climate change, what makes them think humans can do anything about it? Like prevent another ICE AGE. We should be staying focused on limiting our own pollution of the air, water and earth for its own benefit, cleaner air and water. Not trying to control the weather. WE CANNOT CONTROL THE WEATHER OR GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE. We can only control what we do, not how the earth turns or how hot or cold it gets over millions of years. What are these people thinking? I still believe a supreme being created and controls this universe. He gave us "free will" to have some control over our destiny. That does not mean we can put ourselves in His place. Sorry for preaching.
We should be staying focused on limiting our own pollution of the air, water and earth for its own benefit, cleaner air and water.
Gerald, I would say we've done a lot - certainly more than any other country (go to Spain and breathe in the fumes and you'll see what I mean), to eliminate true poisonous pollution. These guys though are calling CO2 pollution. It's not. We breathe it in and breathe it out all day long every day.
Our water is incredibly clean, the air is incredibly clean and I just don't know what all the "pollution" fuss is about.
I've lived in New York city for nearly 20 years and you can walk down the middle of any NYC street and you won't smell any exhaust at all. That's how clean it is. And with millions of cars packed into such a tiny space - you don't even see smog in the air. So I don't know how much cleaner they want it to get! The air is as clear as a bell around here, and you can even drink water out of the Hudson without dying! (Just don't do it near the docks)!
Gerald, I would say we've done a lot - certainly more than any other country.
Jon, I grew up in NYC and yes, there has been A LOT of improvement from when I was a young man.
Big deal treaties and summits do nothing to lower pollution they just raise money to be used to hold more summits and fund more research that will show just how badly we need another treaty,...
Todd, EXACTLY. We should be able to duplicate some of the improvements NYC has made in other cities without a "global summit".
We can solve problems in this country, working with other countries as necessary, without creating global treaties and summits that pretend to FIX EVERYTHING but are really doing nothing. Just because we see a common problem does not mean we have to create these over arching controls on life as a whole. I like exhaling CO2. My house plants love me for it. I think I will continue to do so...
"Like prevent another ICE AGE. We should be staying focused on limiting our own pollution of the air, water and earth for its own benefit, cleaner air and water."
Thank you! Yes! Now can we all just do it?! Please? And chris, global warming itself may not be a huge emergency, but there are a multitude of ways we're changing this planet that can never be reversed. Thats the emergency.
We have done nothing to the earth that the earth will not fix all by itself. With or without us. As far as cleaning up the environment goes. All I can say DH is you weren't around in the 50's and 60's. Nobody here is saying we don't give a crap. I remember the garbage that used to litter highways. Right now in my own back yard GE is paying billions of dollars to dredge a river that they poisoned by using it as a waste dump 60 years ago. A clean environment is nice. To extort money on the premise of JUNK science is not. DH see this for what it is. Global wealth redistribution of the grandest proportion. Health care is domestic wealth redistribution. TARP yes wealth redistribution. GM/Chrysler wealth redistribution. Need I go on. Everything the elitists are doing is to fleece money from one group and give it to another.
