Five British soldiers shot dead in Afghanistan

KABUL (BNO NEWS) -- Five Bive British soldiers were shot dead in Afghanistan's Helmand province on Tuesday, the country's Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Wednesday.

"It is with sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm the death of five soldiers in southern Afghanistan," a statement read. "The soldiers were all killed as a result of gunshot wounds sustained in an attack in the Nad-e'Ali District of Helmand Province during the afternoon of 3 November 2009."

A spokeswoman for the ministry told BNO News that an Afghan policeman opened fire, killing the five soldiers. The spokeswoman said the suspect had not yet been arrested following the shooting, and his current whereabouts are unknown. She said the suspect was confirmed to be a policeman, and not a person dressed as a police officer.

"It is with the deepest sadness I must inform you that five British soldiers were shot and killed yesterday in Nad-e'Ali District. Five British soldiers, five of our own, shot down in the course of duty," said Lt. Col. David Wakefield, a spokesman for the Task Force Helmand. "They will not be forgotten," he added.

Three of the soldiers were from the Grenadier Guards, and two from the Royal Military Police. The families of the casualties have been informed.

No further information was not immediately available.

AN AFGHAN POLICEMAN!!!!!!!!! Good Lord, these poor men. It sounds as if they had no clue it was coming. I wonder if this was someone they normally trusted on many occasions. HOLY CRAP!!!! ....Pray for their families, Amen?

The Afghan govt, police, and population are so polluted with money from opium, and radical Islam, there is little chance of cleaning it up. The US and allies should not have gone in in the first place, it is a hell hole, leave it to the Afghans, they are their own worst enemies. Sending in our boys a waste, focus instead on keeping Islam and Heroin out of the US.

Ben, i disagree you should never stand by and watch a weaker individual get abused no matter what our sacrifice may be. If we can not lead by example how do we lead at all. I guess it should be left up to the UN huh. Ha Ha

Hey there Mateniya, Howzit?,

I understand your feelings on this, brother....."GO ALL OUT OR GET OUT!"....is that, maybe, how you really feel? Or is it just, "NO, simply GET THE HECK OUT!"...?

I agree with many I see, Ben....."It would be great to see revolutions by the people throughout the entire middle east.......but why would they feel empowered to make a move when they have a 'SPONGE BOB' in charge of the US, the most Liberating Country in the world?" It's a qualified 'MESS', Ben,.....I fully agree. But, don't you think we have to take McKrystal's take into consideration?...After all, he IS the most experienced Counter Insurgency Expert in the Service, period! Obviously, if he's saying, "I need this or that to WIN"....he believes we can make enough of a SMACK DOWN to create a large transformation within the country, right?....maybe?

Of course, there are other factors revolving around Afghanistan;
.....The country provides 87% of the entire planets Heroine supply! They are increasing in numbers of Taliban and even Al Qaeda, fairly quickly! They are hosts to MAJOR terrorists from multiple neighboring countries(second of course to Pakistan, but still large numbers that are trained there, TO KILL US, HERE!)

......Yes, it is overwhelming, I agree. Yes, we have a Commander 'n' Chief that seems WEAKENED by the fact that he's being tugged on from so many different directions that, he may just suffer from a proverbial mental health 'quartering'....that is, of course, unless HE TAKES A FREAKING STAND AGAINST EVIL...because, you cannot treat this dilemma with a "Truth is Relative" stance!

The free world is faced with INCREDIBLE consequences, should they NOT deal with Radical Islam, HEAD FIRST, AND RIGHT NOW! And, that INCLUDES, not only Afghanistan but also putting a stop to their subtle or even sometimes BLATANT takeovers of entire regions within the West....with the help, of course, of CARE, MUSLIM AMERICAN BROTHERHOOD, CHRC, etc.! If the West cannot stand up to the ideology of the Muslims within our borders, whom wish to press forward with Sharia 'aspirations'.....well, then WE'RE SCREWED! Let's face it, they reproduce at a rate of 8/1, compared along side Judea-Christian and Secular-Western demographics. I think it's wise to fight Radical Islam ANYWHERE we can....but I agree, Afghanistan IS INDEED ominous, Ben.

I do agree mark that we should have went in and put an end to it, but instead we pussy footed around and tried to appease everyone. Simply put everyone will never be happy, but we should still strive to be the country that will stand for what is right.
