  • Today, inside, they dedicated a new statue of another American giant, Fredrick Douglas – a man born into slavery, but who knew instinctively that he was not born a slave. No man is. To keep a man a slave you do much the same as the cruel circus masters did to the elephant around the turn of l...

  • It seems that the scandals just keep on coming. First, Americans are abandoned to die in a terrorist attack in Benghazi and the American people are lied to about the attack by the President and members of his cabinet. All of the facts are still unknown and the cover up continues. Then we learn tha...

BOEHNER MUST GO

  • Some of us have long held deep suspicions about Speaker John Boehner, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.  Turns out we've been far too patient for far too long There is no longer any doubt about it - this guy is a total spineless RINO - and he must go.

Back in February when the Department of Health and Human Services issued a ruling that mandated  faith-based employers to provide insurance coverage for things that went against their beliefs, Boehner called it an "attack on religious freedom."  And he pledged congressional action.  So far so good.  He was sounding like he was one of us then, like he understood the devastating attack on religious liberties that this new rule was.

Let My Sarcasm Begin:  In one of the most strongly worded rebukes of a president by a speaker in modern times Boehner called on the president to "back up and take another look at this"!  Is he kidding us?  Is that the best he can come up with - to tell Obama to "back up and take another look"!?

However, in that same talk he gave those of us "benefit-of-the-doubters" hope that perhaps he would still act to stop this unconstitutional mandate.  He said:

FEBRUARY 2012:  "If the president does not reverse the Department's attack on religious freedom, then the Congress, acting on behalf of the American people and the Constitution we are sworn to uphold and defend, must."

There!  He pledged that Congress would do something to stop it.  And what could they do?  They could withhold the funds necessary for its implementation.

On Thursday (7/26/2012), Boehner was asked if the House Republicans would permit funds for the implementation of this HHS rule in the Continuing Resolution (CR) they're working on now to fund the government past September 30th.  And this was his answer:

JULY 2012:  “I’ve had NO conversation about what would be included in the CR so when we have something to announce we’ll let you know.”

It's time we start calling in our chits and put some serious pressure on tea party conservatives who were elected to Congress in 2010 to get moving to throw this guy out as Speaker!

Jeannie Ash Expectations of Western Civilization death throes are premature. Rommel was serving the Beast, in the belly of it, when he was able to see the horror that was inflicted. His blinders were removed and he fell on his sword attempting to reverse the course....  more

Jeannie Ash No, for those of you reading another post, you are not experiencing deja vu. I really did write nearly the same thing, merely replacing "death throes" for 'demise'. :-)

Jeannie Ash WE must NEVER underestimate, from our generations of passivity and apathy, the hunger and life survival instinct of our young who have still enough survivors of American values to guide them on a path of reclamation.

Jeannie Ash THere were less than two dozen apostles, most of them illiterate, two thousand years ago. In the last 2000 years reports of the death of Christianity have constant with some admittedly respectable evidence.

You cannot tell a Christian about 'irreversibl...  more
