Even as the Republicans and the democrats attempt to convince us they are different: their actions prove both are at the core uninterested in what the rank and file voter is desirous of. Witness the handling of two convention votes in the past two weeks, the Republicans rammed through a rule change that disenfranchises the state primary voters choice of delegates to the national convention both this year and for the foreseeable future until the rule is changed back, this was done with John Boehner reading the script for it from a TelePrompTer while ignoring what was actually happening before his eyes: now fast forward to the Democrat version when they faced the flap regarding leaving God out of their platform, as well as Jerusalem being Israel's Capitol city and their chairperson appeared to do the same thing albeit to boos and hisses from the assembled crowd. I recall watching the conventions in my youth and seeing them have floor roll call votes where each state would in turn announce the number of ayes and number of nays from within their delegation while a secretary kept tally of the total votes in each category. But it seems any more that the power elites at the top of each party now decide what they want and then call a win for their decision over any objection from the rank and file.
