Survival of the Fittest

  • Lately, the plethora of conservatives complaining doggedly about the destruction of America a the hands of radical Leftists makes me put the whole thing under microscope with evolutions "survival of the fittest concept" as it's backdrop.

Lets take the idea of that is expounded by the conservative camp and run with it.  It does indeed seem like conservative ideas are beginning wane into the past like all things tend to do in life especially when it comes to human civilization.  Conservative camps back in the days of Rome were the Roman polytheists against the newly emergent Christianity, which took Europe by storm.  And the conservative camps back in the days of slavery were the pro-slavery Democrats who wanted to resist the reform altogether.  And the list goes on with womens liberation to the Civil Rights era always history shows s that nothing truly lasts forever in human society.  It changes with the progressive knowledge of our species.  Thus the battle of ideas between Right and Left are always being fought with one side receding away and the other advancing on new territory.  Via that new territory comes in survival of the fittest, will it survive or die off.  The Civil Rights era, for example, destroyed the idea of the white master over the virtual black slave meaning no more segregation, no more hiring based on the melanin content of ones flesh and no more harassing because of said content.  With some minor setbacks, it has been pretty successful.  No significant retreat from the new territory conquered during the 60's. Same thing with abortion and womens lib.  However, the confounded attempt at socialism by Barack Obama has proven to be a disaster.  Since there is a huge stigma against socialism by those who still remember the monstrosity of the Soviet Union and other Stalinist/Maoist hellholes that formed and the Cold War in general, so the blatant attempt at socialism has been halted by Republicans and some Centrist factions within the Democratic Party.  The socialism revisioning of America has been temporarily halted and may end up retreating from the quick and ultimately half assed attempt being filled in by the rival of conservatism.  No matter what our pride says, we must also understand that reformation of a society requires an evolutionary process no matter how painstakingly it may be, whether it's a Conservative, small-government society or a Liberal, Socialist society.  Neither can come at a quick pace without dire consequences that only the lower strata of the human population will suffer through.

So, onto the point, if Conservative are seeing Progressivism winning the hearts and minds of the people perhaps the tactics used by Conservatives themselves is to be blamed, for if Conservatism is a such a potent force to deal with it wouldn't be losing on the political battlefield.  Maybe instead of exerting so much energy on attacking Progressivism and it's tenets maybe that energy should be redirected at creating an unwavering strategy that captures more hearts and minds rather than repulse them into the oppositions camp.  Lately, the vitriolic venom being spewed from the Conservative camp is something not really desired especially during a time where they can easily capitalize on the failure of Obamas promise of Hope and Change.  To say the least, if Obama wins in 2012 and eventually socialism, the only people to blamed are not the Socialists and Leftists, but rather the Conservatives themselves for failing to take an easy bull, in regards to Obamas failure,  by the horns.  Survival of the fittest, will it be Conservatism or Socialism?
