When it comes to religious expression in the public space, I'm a nut about it. I can't see why all religions can't share the public sphere without condemnation from every side. Perhaps the one thing that irks is the need to censor "God" with G-d. I see no point in it and it's pretty damn irritating because it smacks of victory for the religiously intolerant due to their faux offense to seeing "god". Never have I seen any of my Asatru kin censor Thor with "Th-r" or Odin with "Od-n", so why should Christians have to censor their God for the sake of the minority that might find offense to it being read by their eyes? Gods forbid if people who don't believe in such to have their eyes and brain process the name! It might make them consider their own faith and realize that it's on a shaky foundation. Those true to their convictions whether they are my Asatru kin or atheists should never feel offended by reading "God" within the public space. Unless there are cross wearing jack boots knocking on our door telling us to convert or die burning on a crucifix for our heresy, I feel no harm in "God" being out there in the public. I see no harm in a memorial for our fallen veterans that happens to have huge crosses on it. Those of weak will and weak faith are the ones offended.
To my Christian friends here, wear your cross with pride and never allow the PC police to subjugate you by spelling your gods name with a dash in it.
Sometimes Jews don't say or write the name of GOD out of respect. Often, on this site, they will call God - G--d. I doubt that He really cares, but it is not about being pc.
